Many online generators send what you type to their server, make the image there and send it back. UniversalCodeMaker doesn't. Every barcode and QR code, check digit, style and download (PNG, SVG, EPS, PDF and ZIP) is made by JavaScript running in your own browser.

Barcode & QR Scanner and camera access. Our Scanner reads codes from images you choose, drop or paste, or from your device camera. The image or camera frame is decoded inside your browser by a self-hosted, open-source reader (ZXing-C++ compiled to WebAssembly); it is never uploaded, stored or shared, and the decoded text is not sent to us, to analytics or to advertising partners. The camera is used only after you tap Use camera and grant your browser’s permission; it is switched off as soon as a code is found, when you press Stop, or when you leave or hide the page. No audio is ever requested. Other pages of this site are not allowed to use the camera. You can withdraw camera permission at any time in your browser’s site settings.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and tools are used. When it is allowed (see section 4), it sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which by default last 2 years, and sends Google information such as the pages you view, your browser, device type and approximate location. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. If a link puts code content in the page address (?data= or ?payload=), our script removes it before Analytics sees the address.

Cloudflare Web Analytics. To count visits we also use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It stores nothing on your device (no cookies or local storage), so it runs whatever you choose in section 4. Each page view sends Cloudflare the page address and the referring page (both without their query strings, so code content in a link is never included), page-load timings, and your browser and device type. Cloudflare uses your IP address to work out your country and states that it discards the IP address at its nearest data centre. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Security check. Our web host’s CDN (Hostinger) protects the site from attacks, scrapers and malicious bots. It may show a short browser check first; when you pass it, it stores a verification cookie (seen as hcdn) so you are not checked again for a while. This cookie is for security only, not for analytics or ads.

Google AdSense. The site is free and is meant to be supported by ads served by Google AdSense.

• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
• How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK see Google’s consent message, provided through Google AdSense (Google’s certified consent tool). Until you choose, Google Analytics does not load at all. If you choose “Do not consent”, it never loads, and Google serves only non-personalised or limited ads. Your choice is saved in your browser.

Where Google does not show its consent message, Google Analytics loads after the page has finished loading.

Cloudflare Web Analytics (section 3) counts visits for everyone, without cookies or anything stored on your device, whatever you choose here.

• What we rely on: your consent, given through Google’s message, for Google Analytics and for personalised ads; our legitimate interest in knowing how many people use the site, for cookie-free visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
• What we hold: we have no account, sign-up or database with your details. Analytics data is held by Google in our Google Analytics account.
• Your rights: you can withdraw consent at any time (section 4), and ask us about, or to delete, data linked to you. Write to the address in section 12 and we’ll do what we can through Google’s tools. You can also complain to your data protection authority.

Everything you enter, including UPI payment details, phone numbers, contact cards or GSTIN numbers, stays in your browser as described in section 1. For questions or complaints about your data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, write to the address in section 12.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we never see what your codes contain. Google may use cookies to show personalised ads, as described in section 3; you can opt out through Google’s Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. California and other US residents can write to the address in section 12 about their privacy rights.

UniversalCodeMaker is a general-audience tool for businesses and individuals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Barcode readability is influenced by several external factors beyond digital graphic generation, including printer DPI resolution, thermal head wear, substrate/paper finish, contrast ratio, ink bleed, and scanning hardware optics.
